Room 3


Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break!  Thank you very much for all the Christmas gifts and cards.  You are all very kind, generous, and thoughtful families!


Classroom News:

In Reading we continue to work on “Argument and Advocacy: Researching Debatable Issues”.  We are reading a variety of opinion articles and essays.  In Writing we continue to work on “Opinion and Persuasive” essays.  In Math we began Module 7 which is about “Subtracting Decimal Fractions, Patterns, and Coordinates”.  In Social Studies we will continue to learn about “Life in the Colonies”.  In Science we began our unit about “Earth Sciences”.  We will also get ready to work on Science Fair projects.  I will be sending home more information later this month.


Special Announcements:

  • Congratulations to Devante, Pedro, and Stephanie for receiving the Lifeskill Award for “Courage” last month!


General Reminders:

  • Tuesdays and Fridays are P.E. Days for Room 3.  Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
  • Students may bring water bottles to school.  Please label it with your child’s name.
  • Every Wednesday is a Minimum Day.  All students are dismissed at 1:22pm.


Daily Homework Reminders

  • Read for about 30 minutes each night and log it on your reading log.
  • Work on ST Math, Raz-Kids, and Typing Agent.
  • Work on your Book Report. 
  • Work on Math Practice Book pages.
  • Please check the agenda planner daily for additional assignments, announcements, and reminders.

  • Jan. 26= Middle Atlantic States and Capitals Test
  • Jan. 26= Math Module 7 Test



Each Wednesday Officer Larson comes to our class to talk about Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention, Decision Making, and Laws.  At the end of the D.A.R.E. Program all students will participate in a D.A.R.E. Graduation Ceremony in the spring.  All parents are invited to attend the ceremony!
